Artist's Statement

Max Carrizales is an education major at Midwestern State University. This is their first illustrated short story, created as part of a creative writing course. Their work often explores themes of chronic illness, self-advocacy, and emotional vulnerability, and aims to shed light on experiences they feel are often underrepresented.
