Peace in a bottle –
what if the bottle breaks?

Elusive as smoke, this thing peace.

They speak of conditions for peace,
but peace with conditions
is only a shaky truce,
glass warily waiting for stones.
 
A fragile icon, peace.

St. Francis hoeing his garden,
unconcerned with the Second Coming
or death
or the end of the world.

A scary thing, peace.
It promises nothing.
